Duration: 2 Weeks
Background
Climate change is one of the most significant challenges facing our planet today, and it has a disproportionate impact on marginalized communities, particularly women and girls. The link between gender equity and climate change is often overlooked, but it is a critical aspect of addressing the global crisis. Our research aims to highlight the importance of this connection and encourage the development of inclusive and gender-sensitive policies and programs to address the challenges faced by African communities in the face of climate change.
Objectives
The objective of this data visualization project is to raise awareness about the impact of climate change on African women and the urgent need for gender-sensitive policies and programs in response to the crisis. Through interactive charts, maps, and graphs, we aim to provide a visual representation of the effects of climate change on African women's health, livelihoods, and communities. The project aims to enable policy-makers, researchers, and the general public to understand the data and make informed decisions on how to address the challenges faced by African communities in the face of a changing climate.
Approach
Our approach to this project was to gather and analyze data from various sources to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of climate change on African women. We used the data to create interactive charts, maps, and graphs that visually represent the effects of climate change on African women's health, livelihoods, and communities. Our focus was on creating engaging and user-friendly visualizations in form of infographic presentation, poster and a video that will help to communicate complex information to a broad audience.
Deliverable
The final deliverable for this project was a set of interactive data visualizations that highlight the impact of climate change on African women. The visualizations include interactive charts, maps, and graphs in form of infographic presentation, poster and a video to provide a visual representation of the effects of climate change on African women's health, livelihoods, and communities. The final product will be designed to be user-friendly and accessible, allowing policy-makers, researchers, and the general public to understand the data and make informed decisions on how to address the challenges faced by African communities in the face of a changing climate. This data visualization project will serve as an essential tool for raising awareness about the link between gender equity and climate change and encouraging the development of gender-sensitive policies and programs.
